Teaching

Josephine is a sought-after teacher of cello and chamber music in Melbourne with over 20 years experience and a healthy cohort of students at secondary and tertiary level

Josephine is on staff at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music at the University of Melbourne and at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School.

Josephine is a regular tutor and mentor for Mt.Buller Chamber Music, Clunes Music, 3MBS The Talent, Australian Youth Orchestra, Online Virtuoso, Pettman National Junior Academy (NZ) and for iartschool (China).

Her teaching centres firmly on the student as an individual and instinctive musician; they are encouraged to develop stylistic interpretations, establish a musical technique, as well as focus on performance practice, keyboard / harmony / aural skills, smart practice methods, managing stage-fright and goal-directed learning. She encourages a playfulness in practice, also seeking inspiration for young cellists through singing, improvisation and imagery.

I am always amazed by what I can achieve when you push me to be my best
